During the coming year, the Foundation will grant a total of $612,613 to the Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal (IUSMM), divided for the most part between research and patient care.
Research is the priority
Once again this year, substantial funds have been granted to the IUSMM’s Research Centre. The Foundation will give $340,000 that will be shared between different research projects such as the occupational reintegration of people with mental disorders, a study on how children learn about fear, as well as a study on drug-taking by young adults and their vulnerability to mental disorders.
The research funds will also be used to fund the continuation of major projects currently underway but that also require additional support for their upcoming roll-out. This is the case for the Banque Signature, where the data contained therein will be soon made available to all researchers as well as three mobile apps in the field of mental health that will be soon be offered to the public free of charge in the next few months.
Giving Practitioners the Right Tools for the Benefit of Clients
An amount of $25,000 has been awarded to support clients during treatment and social reinsertion in order to offer high quality clinical support to the Institute’s clientele. The funds, which are dedicated to client services, will be used to support ambulatory emergency teams that work directly in the field with clients who are in crisis, to develop new projects such as mobile animal therapy, to support the work and projects of professionals who work in the different programs of the Institute, be it for example in the fields of intellectual disabilities, social work, occupational therapy or physiotherapy.
