In a warm and friendly atmosphere, numerous invitees came together on this past December 4 to take part in the lanching of the Second Major Financing Campaign for the Fondation de l’Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal (the “Foundation”). The campaign’s objective is to raise at least $8M to help people suffering with mental health problems to recover and reintegrate society.
“We are very pleased, enthusiastic and excited to begin this new campaign, explained Carole Morin, the Foundation’s Managing Director. We are able to start the campaign with the support and the help of exceptional people who are members of our campaign cabinet, including our three co-presidents, Louis Vachon, President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Bank, Yvon Charest, President and Chief Executive Officer of iA Financial Group, and Éric Martel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hydro-Québec.”
“I am proud and agreeably surprised by the remarkable work done by our ambassadors and campaign cabinet because their efforts along with involvement of the business community have enabled us to raise $5.9M$,” stated Martin Gagnon, the Foundation’s President and the Co-President and Co-Chief Executive Officer of the National Bank.
The corporate campaign will continue until 2020 and a campaign aimed at the general public will be added in 2018. The Foundation will be counting on the generosity of the business community and the general public to reach its stated goals.
Support for More Research and Innovative Clinical Practices
The donations that we receive will allow us to aim for excellence in clinical practices and to improve the work of specialists with innovative clinical research.
In practical terms, the funds raised will help the Foundation to offer support to the CONNEC-T team which aims to detect and offer early treatment for severe mental illnesses found in young people aged from 12 to 25. The Foundation would also like to continue to help in deploying mobile teams specialized in0404 intervention and home care. As well, the Foundation would like to contribute to the recovery of people and their reintegration back into the community by supporting projects that seek to improve quality of life and general health care.
The Foundation would also like to continue to offer support to innovation and research work performed by members of the Institute’s Research Centre, including work involving the Research Chair in Work and Mental Health, the Signature Bank as well as new technologies in mental health (such as mobile apps, virtual reality and the Interactive Internet). The coming years should prove to be inspiring as the focus put on improving front-line mental health care as well as the early detection and prevention of mental illness and violence in the field of psychiatry.
