Golfers and Cyclists Get Together to Raise $128,000

7 September 2017

On September 7, 2017, close to a hundred golfers and more than sixty cyclists got together at the Richelieu Valley Golf Club to reaffirm the importance of supporting improvements to the care and other services offered by the Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal to the public at large.

At the start of the evening, it was with great pride that Carole Morin, the Managing Director of the Fondation de l’Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal (the “Foundation”), along with Martin Gagnon, President of the Board, announced the final tally for the day, that is a stunning $128,000.

The Cycling Challenge is Attracting More and More Participants

For the fourth edition, the Pédalez un peu, beaucoup, à la folie! challenge managed to break its participation record when 65 participants lined up at the starting gate. Having been motivated by Richard Lupien, the honorary president of the event, and Debbie Lynch-White, the event’s spokesperson, the sixty or so cyclists started the event with a smile despite uncertain weather that threatened to put a damper on the day’s activities.

As the afternoon worn on, the dark clouds went away, finally letting a few sunbeams break through the cloud cover much to the delight of participants who were able to shed a couple of layers and fully enjoy the moment.

Again this year, the participants were in good hands and were able to take advantage of the advice of former Canadian cycling champion Dominque Perras and his Avelocoaching team, who are specialized in organizing major cycling events.

We would like to congratulate all cyclists for their efforts, for their perseverance on their two-wheeled vehicles as well as the generous fundraising efforts they made with families and friends.

The Foundation would also like to offer its deepest thanks to all volunteers and partners without whom the success of the golf tournament and the cycling challenge would not have been possible. We would also like to offer special thanks to the National Bank, the Fondation Casse-Tête, André Bérard, Bell Let’s Talk and Croesus.

Here are just a few of the photos of the great day.
